  New forum theme launched!
Posted by: NZs no.3 - 24-06-2015, 06:59 PM - Forum: TVGF Discussion - Replies (5)

New Theme Launched

Hello everyone of TVGF!

We are proud to launch our new theme tonight. It was created by the talented Envy, and modified by myself and the rest of TVGF staff.

Big thanks to Pythagean for creating our new logo and forum icons. Anything of the graphical nature was his making.

This theme will be the new default theme for the forum.

As for the changes/new features:
  • New forum logo!
  • New forum icons!
  • Announcements bar!
  • About us information at bottom of the forum

There is now also a recent threads and Steam section integrated into a sidebox on the index of the forum. This is dynamic and optional however and by clicking the square highlighted below you can expand or collapse the sidebox.

Aditiaionally, when you now login you can access a quick menu for your User CP and other options by clicking the down arrow next to your name.

We have also done a shuffle around for other information, such as the latest posts table. This now resides at the bottom about the chat box.

Know bugs:
A couple of things to note:

  • Forum icons don't swap to the 'read' icon when you click them, this will require a page refresh. They will display correctly after that for both read and unread forums you have not checked.
  • The news feed icon "News" has to be moved slightly right.
  • News alert number for how many news alerts you have displays below the news section. Working on a fix.
  • If you encounter any errors, please tell me.

As said this is the new default theme for the forum from now on. However i have left the option in the bottom right of the forum to change the forum theme between this one and the original theme we had. If you preferred that you can still swap back, however this is the theme I am now supporting and will no longer be making changes on the old one.

Take sometime to familiarise yourself with the changes.

Feedback is much appreciated.

Dragon's Crown - Review

Dragon's Crown is an exquisitely hand-crafted masterpiece. The art and animation alone makes it one of the best looking games on Vita or PS3. The combination of the gameplay, art style and narration really nails the feel of a Dungeons and Dragons campaign

  Payday 2 'Mega' Thread
Posted by: Jargonion - 17-06-2015, 01:59 PM - Forum: Video Game Discussion - Replies (9)

Welcome to the Payday 2 'Mega' thread!

Payday 2 is a stunningly awesome game. Ever wanted to rob a bank? You can do it. Ever wanted to trash a mall? You can do it. Ever wanted to cook meth to trade for intel to help you get rich after killing your boss's rival mobsters? you can do it. Ever wanted to execute civilians on the street while you wait for that mother fucking drill to finish getting into the vault? Go ahead and buy the game and you can do it and so much more. There is a stunning amount of stuff to do in Payday 2, complete with a couple dozen stand-alone missions, a levelling and skill system, and weapon modifications.

My hope is to show y'all around the bare-bones of the game, and demonstrate a piss-easy stealth bank robbery. There's a shit load more to do, but I didn't want to take a million screen-shots to document a single heist.

First, the skill trees! There are 5 skill trees, each with a shit load of helpful skills to help you customise and compliment your play style. The mastermind skill tree is support based. For the most part, you'll be getting healing skills, pistol skills, and the ability to dominate a cop and turn him into an ally.

The enforcer tree is the tank tree. You'll have the opportunity to turn shotguns into death-machines, increase your health and armour, and unlock the saw (to open atms, doors, and lock-boxes). You can also unlock the best armour in the game.

The technician tree's pretty great, or pretty shit. You'll unlock trip mines, which later turn into C4 (to open doors and safes), turret guns (pretty excellent when maxed out), and drill skills to speed up and improve drills (which are a pretty commonly used tool). You'll also get a few other helpful, defensive skills. Technician's a handy support class, or a really nice auxiliary skill tree to strengthen other builds.

Ghost - sneaky sneaky. You unlock ecms (jamming cellphones and radios so nobody can call the cops / open atms) and a bunch of other quality of life things. You can boost effectiveness of silenced weapons, move and bag shit faster, and learn to crack safes by hand and loop security cameras. You'll also be able to upgrade your ecms to temporarily block guard pagers (more on that in the next post) and open certain doors.

Fugitive. Pretty alright, nothing special. You get lots of first-aid kits, powerful healing items that lack a mechanic found only in the medical kits. Honestly, this is a pretty new addition to the game, so the tree doesn't get handy until you reach the top tiers (9 seconds of unlimited ammo and ability to walk after getting downed, dual wielding pistols (shotguns coming soon)).

Let's find a mission!

Clicking on crime.net shows other people's games. I took this screenshot pretty early in the morning, so almost nobody was on. I set the filter to "nearby" not "worldwide".

On the bottom left of the screen, you can chose to buy the mission you want to play, if you don't want to wait for it to randomly pop-up on crime.net. These are all the missions offered by BAIN, there are other contracts, I just didn't screenshot them all. There are a lot more missions than I have shown here.

I've decided to stealth a bank. This is a really standard stealth-job, with the ability to completely neutralise the map. As Overkill worked on the game longer, they started to design much harder and more dynamic stealth missions. This is not one of those. This should be text-book.

I scroll through my several-dozen weapons to find my silenced assault rifle.
And I chose a silenced Deagle as my secondary, despite the silenced shotty being more fun.

And a shiv for my melee.

More next post!

CS:GO is the remedy to that rash you've been looking for!

Anyone frequent this? I'm looking for a partner for one of the COOP modes in the new Operation. The game is on sale (as it always is) if anyone wants to pick it up.

Ratchet & Clank on PS4 - Trailer and Gameplay

First look at Ratchet & Clank on PS4

PlayStation Blog Wrote:Hey everyone. We know Ratchet & Clank, Insomniac Games, and PlayStation fans have been waiting to get a glimpse of Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4. We’re excited to bring you that first look today ahead of its playable debut on the showfloor of E3 next week.

In this trailer, you’ll see a few glimpses of footage from the film, and then your first-ever look at gameplay footage directly from the game coming exclusively to PS4. Check it out above.

We knew early on that we didn’t want to just up-res Ratchet & Clank for PS2. We started out thinking of Ratchet & Clank (PS4) as a “re-imagining” of the 2002 original, revised to tie in with the deeper version of Ratchet’s origin story as seen in the film. We envisioned a curated Ratchet & Clank experience that borrowed from the spirit of the classic PS2 titles while infusing some of the best elements from the Ratchet & Clank Future games.

[Image: 18644864865_442d54509d_z.jpg][Image: 18618515216_819f3517b4_n.jpg][Image: 18618515646_8009d1aa57_n.jpg]
We ended up with a new game, with elements based on the original – but now with modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more, all constructed to take advantage of the PS4’s graphical prowess. Throw in James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, and you have a new beginning.

The fresh start means we changed up the arsenal quite a bit as well. As always with Ratchet & Clank games, you battle your enemies with an out-of-this-world arsenal. In the PS4 version of Ratchet & Clank the majority of the arsenal are weapons that weren’t in the original game. That means both new weapons and fan-favourite tools of destruction from the Ratchet & Clank Future series will fill out Ratchet’s kit.

From the brand new Pixelizer (which transforms enemies into explosive 8-bit pixels) to franchise favourites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron and wise-cracking robotic bodyguard Mr. Zurkon, Ratchet & Clank’s arsenal has never been better.

When we were asked recently to come up for a special bonus for fans that support Ratchet & Clank (PS4) by pre-ordering it, we went back to the list of our favourite weapons that we hadn’t yet brought to the game. In the end, it was a no-brainer, and I’m ecstatic to say that when you pre-order the game, you’ll get access to one of my all-time favourite weapons from Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked & Loaded – The Bouncer. The Bouncer launches a bomb that releases a plethora of tiny homing bombs that bounce towards targets. One of the most effective and spectacular Ratchet & Clank weapons ever.

We couldn’t be more excited to debut Ratchet & Clank on PS4 and the silver screen. For all the latest updates, stay tuned to the Insomniac Games Facebook and Twitter pages.

Help Ratchet and Clank save the galaxy for the first time, again!

Holy shit that gameplay! It's almost Pixar quality! The animation and lighting is fantastic. Thats how you do an HD remake/reimaging of a classic game.

Thoroughly loved all the original Ratchet an Clank games, I'm looking forward to playing this and seeing the movie. Great line up of games on the way next year!

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Announced
Posted by: NZs no.3 - 05-06-2015, 10:37 AM - Forum: Video Game Discussion - Replies (2)

Naughty Dog’s acclaimed PS3 trilogy receives remastered release

PlayStation Blog Wrote:You’ve asked for it and we listened. Today we finally get to announce that Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception are being released for the PS4 in the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, available 7th October 2015 (9th October in UK and Ireland)!

Since the launch of the PS4, we’ve seen plenty of requests across our Twitter, Facebook, and message boards all over the internet for the first three games in the Uncharted series, which have managed to sell an amazing 21+ million copies and garner an average 92 Metacritic rating, to receive a remastered release.

We couldn’t agree more, as what better way to get prepared for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End than to revisit – or play for the first time – the first three games that launched the fortune-hunting icon that is Nathan Drake?

Early last month, Eric and I took a trip to Austin on the down low to visit the incredible team at Bluepoint Games to check out Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in person and get ready for this announcement. What we’ve seen of the collection so far looks fantastic!
The team at Bluepoint Games is incomparable regarding their portfolio of achievements and remastered releases, and we’ve been working closely with them to bring over our engine to make Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection an exemplary game.

That means not only allowing you to play the single-player campaigns of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 1080p and 60fps with better lighting, textures, and models, but they’re also working on a range of improvements and additions across all three games.

We put together the list of these improvements and additions based on countless forum posts, messages, Tweets, and even through personal conversations we’ve had with a number of you over the years. More on these specifics in future updates.

By pre-ordering Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection now, you can receive the Nathan Drake Pack which includes single player skins of iconic Drake outfits as well as everyone’s favorite weapons: the Golden AK-47 and Golden 92FS guns. If you pre-order the digital download via the PlayStation Store, you will also get an Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 dynamic theme.

Oh, and one other important note, buying the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection grants you exclusive access to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer beta (while the beta is available, of course.)

With the release a scant four months away, we’re looking forward to getting you ready for Drake’s next adventure with the remastered version of these first three Uncharted titles. With luck we’ll be able to put together some opportunities for our fans to see and play parts of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection prior to its release. We’ll keep you posted here in the upcoming months.

Well holy shit I am hype. I love this series and welcome this remastered trilogy. Me right now:
