On October 30th, The band Goodbye To Gravity were performing in the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest, Romania, when a pyrotecnic failure resulted in a fire. The club was not fire insulated and there not an appropriate number of exits. The building was deemed unsafe by the nations fire service but given the seal of approval by the mayor.
As of the most recent news article I've checked, the death toll has risen to 56, with an 18 year old girl succumbing to burns. Of the 5 member band Goodbye to Gravity, only one survived the fire. In addition, many other musicians and people in the industry were lost.
A Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu has put an full-length album on Bandcamp, with all proceeds to support funeral costs for victims of the fire. Mostly grim instrumentals and some tasty violin. A very appropriate tribute.
Well worth the minimum 7 EURO but give it a listen first and if you like it, buy it for what you think it's worth.
