Witcher 3 takes game of the year! Very well deserved and I put about 150 hours into that game. CD Projekt Red then rightfully took developer of the year too. The game they delivered was incredible and it shows being able to take the win even after Fallout 4 coming out so recently.

Splatoon taking best shooter and best multiplayer is pretty funny. Rip Halo and CoD.

Personally, my game of the year definitely goes to Witcher 3 so my list would be:

  1. The Witcher 3
  2. BloodBorne (my review here)
  3. Just Cause 3
  4. Dying Light
  5. Muh Indies (Rocket Leagues etc.)
  6. Metal Gear Solid V (still my biggest disappointment)
Special mentions to Rocket League and Helldivers (my review here) being my favorite indies of the year. Fantastic games.

Keeping in mind that I have only played only a handful of games released this year, here are my thoughts:
  • By the sounds of it, Witcher 3 definitely deserved Game of the Year. No technical issues (which sadly is rare nowadays), a compelling story, huge amount of content. Plus a developer who has a great relationship with fans
  • I was surprised to hear Splatoon won, I'm not entirely sure who decided the awards so can't really comment on what that means for the industry. But it's cool that something other than COD/Halo won
  • Rocket League absolutely deserves both awards, it is undoubtedly the best sports or racing game because it is a sports and racing game. Great great great developers, good dlc model which doesn't split the fan base or lock gameplay content away
  • Greg Miller winning is awesome, didn't expect him to win over the likes of Pewdipie. Shows how big the Playsation (and Kinda Funny specifically) community is.
