I just reformed Germanic paganism so I was the pagan pope and also I got to choose my successor. But I then I reformed from tribal to merchant republic and the seniority succession of merchant republic is incompatible with the succession requirements for the pagan papacy and now there is no viable successor so I will automatically lose as soon as my current character dies

so frustrating
