why didn't Light Yagami purge despotic heads of state

Pretty sure that didn't come up at all right? He could've removed the Kim dynasty or Saddam Hussein or other contemporary world leaders and power players.

Given the confidence, narcissism and moral drive, you'd think you could force greater change on the world by strategically purging politicians you don't like instead of just removing murderers.

Which politicians would you purge?
The president of Gabon? Bolsonaro? Queen Lizzie II and all her heirs until Prince Louis of Cambridge is King?

Was it set in our modern earth though? I can't remember. But yeah he could have really done some damage if he wanted too. Do you think the writers would have even been up for the task of figuring out what to do with dead world-wide politicians?

I need to go back and consume a lot of material, but my faulty memory is telling me in one adaptation he ran out of despots.
